Disaster Recovery Planning
What would you do if your phone system was drowned by your sprinkler system?
What if your building flooded or burned?
Is your telecommunications system critical to your organization's business?
If your building was inaccessible, would you have a list of phone numbers to call to start getting help, or are they all in your office inside the building you cannot enter?
No one wants to think about disasters. It's human nature. But they do happen. An outage of a critical system, such as telecommunications, can cripple an organization. We work with organizations to minimize the damage that can be inflicted by a disaster.
We examine several areas:
- We identify points of failure, and potential weaknesses, so that they can be addressed before they become critical.
- We look for ways to provide redundancy or alternate routing, so that your system is better able to survive the loss of a component or network element.
- We set up back up plans that can be activated with a phone call, so that critical phone traffic can reach you.
- We recommend schedules for back ups, and a policy for offsite storage of critical items, or an offsite standby system where warranted.
- We organize the information that you will need to have in the event of a disaster situation, and make recommendations about updates, placement, etc. of the information.
There is no way to plan for every possible thing that could go wrong. We strive to create a solution that is flexible enough to be useful, no matter what unforseen events occur. Of course, many things are out of our control, and no plan can possibly cover every contingency. But a thoughtful, flexible plan can save time, money, and possibly even your company's future.
